About The Role

We are looking to recruit a Tenancy Officer to join our Tenancy Services Team.

Would you enjoy being part of a busy customer facing service, responsible for delivering tenancy management service to residents of over 5,700 Council homes across the borough?

We require a reliable, motivated, and organised individual to join our Tenancy Services Team to be the first point of contact for tenants, offering advice and support to enable them to maintain their tenancy. Duties include:

  • Visiting tenants in their homes to carry out tenancy support visits to identify support needs, property defects and ensuring compliance with tenancy conditions.
  • Administer void management process, liaising with other departments to minimise void turnaround periods.
  • Undertaking viewings of void properties.
  • Supporting residents to resolve tenancy breaches such as condition of gardens, access for compliance checks.
  • Manage applications and the availability of garages and our garden maintenance scheme.
  • Process mutual exchange applications and changes to existing tenancies.
  • Undertaking tenancy end visits providing information about how a property should be returned to the council to avoid recharge costs.

The post is a temporary contract/secondment until 31st December 2024. *If applying for the position as a secondment, you must obtain your line manager’s approval before applying for the position.

This role requires a satisfactory basic disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). 

You are required to have a driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use as part of the role.

About You

We are looking for someone with experience of working in a housing related service, ideally within tenancy sustainment in a public environment, along with great communication and organisation skills, representing Great Yarmouth Borough Council.

You will need experience of using mobile devices and computerised management systems, dealing with the public, lone working and an understanding of technical terms and local authority powers.

The role is fast paced, and the successful candidate will need to be reliable, well organised and have a flexible approach to duties.
