About The Role

Reports to: Communications & Engagement Manager

Location: Office based with the opportunity for hybrid working, subject to business needs

Hours: Part-time 21 hours over 3 days. Standard office hours with flexibility to work evenings and weekends to support events, meetings and engagement activities where required.

The post if offered on a Fixed Term Contract for 4 years. 

Role Purpose: The Campaign Delivery & Engagement Officer will support in the delivery of the Council's Pride in Place campaign and coordinate communications and engagement for the Town of Culture programme. During the first 12 months, these two flagship initiatives will be intrinsically linked, with the postholder ensuring they are promoted through a single, cohesive communications and engagement approach.

You will work closely with the Communications & Engagement Manager to develop and deliver communications and engagement activities that celebrate investment across the borough, promote civic pride and encourage residents to become actively involved in their communities.

The postholder will act as the communications link between regeneration and place-based projects and the Communications & Engagement Team, ensuring the progress, milestones and benefits of Pride in Place funded projects are communicated effectively to residents, elected members, stakeholders and partners. The role will also support communications and engagement activity for the Town of Culture programme, helping to coordinate messaging and maximise public participation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate communications for Pride in Place funded projects, ensuring key milestones, achievements and outcomes are communicated through a range of channels.
  • Develop and deliver community engagement initiatives and events that encourage participation, strengthen civic pride and showcase the Council's investment in local communities.
  • Prepare presentations, briefings and communications for elected members, stakeholders and governance boards, providing regular updates on campaign and project progress.
  • Act as the communications link between project teams, the Communications & Engagement Team and the Town of Culture programme, ensuring consistent messaging and effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Work collaboratively across Council services and with external partners to identify positive stories, maximise media opportunities and support the successful delivery of Council priorities.
  • Monitor and evaluate campaign performance, using insight and feedback to continually improve communications and engagement activity.
  • Represent the Council at meetings, engagement events and partnership forums, including occasional evening and weekend commitments.
  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade of the post.

About You

Person Specification

Essential

  • Experience of coordinating projects, campaigns or programmes.
  • Experience of delivering communications, engagement or community initiatives.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage a wide range of audiences.
  • Experience of building effective relationships with stakeholders and partners.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and digital communication platforms.

Desirable

  • Experience of working within local government, regeneration or the public sector.
  • Knowledge of community engagement, regeneration or externally funded programmes.

Personal Attributes

  • Enthusiastic, proactive and community focused.
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work collaboratively across teams and with external partners.
  • Flexible approach to work, including occasional evening and weekend commitments.

Working Arrangements

This is a part-time position based primarily at the Council's offices with the opportunity for hybrid working, subject to business needs. The postholder will be expected to travel across the borough and attend meetings and events outside normal office hours when required.
