About The Role

We are looking for an experienced and pro-active Accommodation Support Officer to join the Housing Options Team.

As an Accommodation Support Officer, the focus of your role will be to support and empower individuals to successfully manage their stay in housing-led Housing First accommodation, transitional housing or other temporary accommodation, using your knowledge and skills to ensure they are ready to move on to the most appropriate accommodation route tailored to the individual’s needs.

The post is offered on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract/Secondment. If applying for the position as a secondment, you must obtain your line manager’s approval before applying for the position.

This role requires a satisfactory basic disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

About You

You will be working across the Housing Options Department not only supporting people to gain the skills to live independently but also ensuring our accommodation is maintained to a high standard and any issues are reported and dealt with in an efficient manner.  This will be a varied role and no two days will be the same.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate that they have the following skills, knowledge, and work experience. 

  • Working with individuals who have a history of Homelessness or Rough Sleeping
  • Experience of building trust and rapport with clients/individuals
  • Active listening skills, ability to communicate and negotiate clearly, explaining complex ideas simply and clearly.
  • The ability to be empathetic, approachable, and supportive. Always maintaining a non-judgemental attitude.
  • Builds trust and maintains confidentiality.
  • The ability to advocate and negotiate for clients.
  • An understanding and knowledge of:
  1. Drug and Alcohol Misuse
  2. Safeguarding requirements
  3. Tenancy and Property Management
