About The Role

The Borough of Great Yarmouth is uniquely located in the Broads National Park and boasts 15 miles of sandy beaches, a thriving port serving the oil and gas industries and a diverse multi-cultural population.

Great Yarmouth Borough Council is a forward thinking and dynamic Council. We are looking for an Environmental Ranger to  following a vacancy arising in the team  .  We have an impressive record of enforcement for fly tipping and dog fouling cases and wish to build on this to help create a cleaner, safer Borough and attractive seaside resort.

The Environmental Rangers address street scene issues such as flytipping, littering, dog fouling and flyposting through  a mixture of education and enforcement as well as carrying out inspections of Council assets.

The Waste and Environmental Protection Team is part of the wider Environmental Services and is an integral part of the service, carrying out investigations into both domestic and commercial complaints and ensuring that the correct evidence is obtained for each case.  The Rangers also play an important role in dealing with emergency situations in the Borough such as flooding.

If this is an opportunity which interests you and you feel that you could make a positive impact on the Borough, we would really like to hear from you.  For an informal discussion regarding this vacancy please contact Paul Shucksmith, Waste and Environmental Protection Manager on 01493 84620.

Closing date: midnight on Sunday 20 July 2025
Interview date: Friday 25 July 2025
