About The Role

We're seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Technician to join our in-house Electrical Service team at Great Yarmouth Borough Council (GYBC). You'll play a key role in delivering electrical maintenance and compliance across our housing stock, communal areas, and estates.

This includes supporting essential programmes such as EICR, PAT, and FAT testing, while working collaboratively to ensure residents’ homes and shared spaces are safe, functional, and compliant with all relevant legislation.

Carrying out responsive repairs and planned works across council properties and communal areas

    • Ensuring compliance with all applicable electrical regulations and safety standards
    • Managing your workload effectively to deliver high-quality, value-for-money services
    • Collaborating with internal teams, contractors, and partner organisations
    • Adapting to a diverse property portfolio—from heritage buildings to modern developments

About You

The ideal candidate must have relevant experience, skills, and qualification:

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in residential, commercial, and communal environments
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety Regulations, including safe working practices and risk assessments
  • Respond to emergency call-outs, often outside regular hours, requiring flexibility and reliability
  • Carry out electrical compliance checks, such as testing, inspection, and certification
  • Work independently or as part of a team on planned and reactive maintenance tasks
  • Working at Heights
