About The Role

Are you a Registered Building Inspector (Class 2F) looking to take the next step in your career?

This is an excellent opportunity to join a developing Building Control team within a diverse coastal, urban and rural authority. The role offers a high level of professional autonomy, balanced with the support of a small, experienced, and multi-disciplinary team.

You will be responsible for managing your own caseload, undertaking plan appraisals, site inspections and responding to technical queries across a range of domestic and commercial developments. The role provides the opportunity to work independently while contributing to the effective delivery of a high-quality Building Control service.

The team delivers a professional and pragmatic service across all aspects of the Building Regulations, including inspections, technical assessments and enforcement-related activity. The successful candidate will also be involved in responding to dangerous structures and resolving complex compliance issues as they arise.

This role will suit an experienced and motivated Building Control professional who is a practical and thoughtful decision-maker, who wants to play an active part in the ongoing development and improvement of the service, including supporting efficiency, consistency and commercial awareness.

About You

We are looking for a Building Control Surveyor with a good working knowledge of Building Regulations and associated legislation, and experience of carrying out site inspections, plan checking and compliance assessments across a range of domestic and commercial work.

The role operates within the Registered Building Inspector framework and requires the postholder to be able to work at Level 2F, undertaking work appropriate to that level of registration. The successful applicant will be comfortable managing their own workload, applying professional judgement, and working in line with current regulatory requirements.

You will work closely with colleagues and external partners, maintain accurate records, and contribute to a consistent and professional Building Control service.

Good communication skills, a practical approach to problem-solving, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team are essential.
