About The Role

This is an opportunity to join a busy team dealing with the ongoing welfare reform changes. The role is to assess and administer Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support applications and change in circumstances. This is predominately a back-office role but will require at times to support our Customer Services Team to deal with customer enquiries either by face to face, via telephone or by email.

The post is offered on a temporary fixed term contract until 31.3.2027.

 This is a part-time position – 25 hrs per week.

This role requires a satisfactory basic disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

About You

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate that they have the following skills, knowledge, and work experience:

  • To have experience of effectively using IT systems such as word, excel, outlook or other software systems.
  • An ability to assess Housing Benefit and Council Tax applications
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience of working effectively with other teams
  • Experience of managing a caseload.
  • Working knowledge of maintaining databases to record accurate information.
  • Able to deal with interruptions
  •  You will be able to demonstrate your commitment to quality and performance and be enthusiastic about new initiatives and forthcoming changes.
