About The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Fire Safety Officer to join our Social Landlord Service Assets / Compliance Team. 

Reporting to the Compliance Manager the successful candidate will be required to: 

  • Oversee the management, of Fire Risk Assessments and other associated fire safety  matters
  • Lead of all fire safety upgrades and integrations to ensure smooth and efficient reporting and recording of data.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify system needs and propose solutions.
  • Develop and enforce best practices for testing data integrity and security.
  • Provide support and training to users across the Asset and Compliance Teams
  • Manage IT systems and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Analyse fire safety system performance and recommend improvements for operational efficiency.

This role provides an opportunity to provide a service to assist in supporting the Council in making a difference in the community it serves by providing fire safety within the Borough's housing stock.

 This is a part time role working 18 1/2 hours per week, Monday to Friday (PT hours to be agreed), on a hybrid basis.

About You

The Social Landlords Service Fire Safety Officer will be a proactive, detail-oriented professional responsible for preventing fires and ensuring regulatory compliance.

This role is critical to safety under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, safeguarding lives, property, and building environments. 

To excel in this role, you need strong analytical skills paired with a calm, authoritative demeanour with:- 

  • Legislative Knowledge: Deep related understanding of regulations and related health and safety directives.
  • Certifications: Typical qualifications include Level 3 or Level 4 certificates in Fire Safety (such as those accredited by the Institution of Fire Engineers).
  • Communication: Ability to communicate clearly, reassure others in high-pressure situations, and influence a positive safety culture across the Social Landlords Service.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous record-keeping regarding equipment testing and incident reporting.
