Now is an exciting time to join the planning department at Great Yarmouth Borough Council. The Council has recently become one of the first local authorities in the country to adopt a Borough-wide Design Code which is already helping to improve the quality of design in the area.  A new Local Plan has recently been submitted for examination and there will be an opportunity to contribute to the examination process. Additionally, new modern planning software is on the horizon which will help streamline our processes and enable us to deliver high-quality customer service.

The role is based in our Strategic Planning Team which is a great opportunity for getting experience in planning policy.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate that they have the skills, knowledge, and work experience as set out in the job description. It will be essential for candidates to demonstrate the following:

• Production of formal documents, investigations and presentations (in a workplace, educational or leisure pursuit setting).
• Ability to organise and prioritise own work.
• Ability to analyse, interrogate and reformulate written and numerical information.
• Report writing capability. Computer literate and a working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, databases, etc.
•  A high level of verbal logic.
