About The Role

Are you passionate about Environmental Health? Are you looking to be part of a dynamic team working within a seaside borough where no two days are the same?

The Borough of Great Yarmouth is an exciting place to work. It offers interesting and varied casework across both urban and rural settings along the east coast of Norfolk, including the Port of Great Yarmouth.

Tourism and leisure play an important role in the local economy, from Great Yarmouth’s bustling Golden Mile seafront packed with amusements, attractions and restaurants, to the beautiful countryside dotted with windmills and access to the Broads National Park, with riverside pubs and tearooms.

We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic, and forward-thinking Environmental Health Practitioner or Senior Food and Safety Officer to join our friendly and professional Commercial Team.

The key aspects of the role are food safety and health and safety, alongside infectious disease controls, food and water sampling, ship sanitation inspections and private water supplies. Experience in these additional areas would be an advantage, although training will be offered to the successful candidate.

What we can offer you:

You would be joining a welcoming and supportive team based at our historic town hall, although agile working is available.

We pride ourselves on offering an inclusive working environment and are committed to enabling personal and professional development. We offer attractive terms and conditions, including the following benefits:

  • Generous holiday entitlement, up to 33 days per annum, plus bank holidays
  • Essential car user allowance up to £963 per annum
  • Work-life balance with flexible and agile working
  • Local Government Pension scheme which includes life cover (3 times annual salary); and an Additional Voluntary Contribution (AVC) scheme to enhance your pension provision
  • Relocation package (where applicable)
  • CIEH membership fees paid
  • Employee assistance programme offering support for mental health, physical, financial or personal issues 24/7, 365 days a year
