Cremator Technician

Great Yarmouth Borough Council is an ambitious local authority with big plans for the future and massive opportunities ahead. With one of the most successful enterprise zones in the country, Great Yarmouth is England’s offshore energy hub and Norfolk’s biggest seaside resort at the edge of the Broads National Park. We are looking for an experienced and pro-active Cremator Technician to join the Bereavement Services Team.

You will have basic computer skills be willing to undertake the cremator technician qualification. You must be adaptable to change and have a flexible working attitude. You will be able to demonstrate confidentiality and empathy, have a caring approach with the public and perform all duties in a sensitive environment. You must have a full driving license and be able to carry out Pall Bearing duties which may include heavy lifting.

Experience and Knowledge:

• Previous experience working in a customer service environment
• Experience dealing with members of the public who may be distressed
• Ability to operate computerised audio and cremator systems

Qualifications:

• Basic English and Mathematics 
• Basic computer skills 
• A relevant cremator technician qualification would be desirable

• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team 
• Capability to perform routine maintenance tasks 
• Ability to work to deadlines 
• Effective communication with people from all walks of life 
• Demonstrated empathy and a caring approach with the public
• Self-motivated and able to retain confidentiality

• Ability to carry out pall bearing duties, which may include heavy lifting
• Capability to perform heavy manual work 
• Sensitivity in performing all duties
• Interest in assisting members of the public
