About The Role

The Council’s Planning Development Management Team is leading the way to support an ambitious regeneration programme, with major projects including North Quay, South Dene's, and the Winter Gardens. Critical to this planning service is the technical and administrative team responsible for receiving, validating, and supporting processing planning applications. Most of the Council’s planning-related correspondence is directed through the planning email inbox which is managed by Planning Administration.

If you have an interest in planning, geography or economics, this could be a role that appeals to you.

This role provides an opportunity to be involved in a wide range of development and regeneration projects. There will also be opportunities to learn how the planning process works, including joining officers in the monthly ‘planning learning hour’. In addition to a competitive salary, the Council provides an attractive benefits package, including generous annual leave, flexible working arrangements, and access to a good local pension scheme.

End date: Wednesday 13th May 2026

Interview date: Thursday 21st May 2026

For more information, or to discuss this role, please contact Nick Fountain, via email at [email protected] or 01493 846626.

About You

We are seeking candidates who have good written and verbal communication skills, the ability to organise and prioritise, and competent users of Microsoft Office software. As a Business Support Officer, you would be the first point of contact for the planning service, therefore you will be confident signposting customers and making use of the Council’s IT systems.

Applicants are encouraged to review the full job description and person specification for further details about the role.
