About The Role

We are looking for a confident, proactive and professional HR Advisor to join our Organisational Development team at Great Yarmouth Borough Council. The role is being advertised at 35 hours per week.

Reporting to the Head of Organisational Development, you will provide high-quality advice and support across a wide range of HR matters, helping managers to apply policies fairly, consistently and effectively. This is a varied and rewarding role where you will support the delivery of a professional, proactive and efficient HR and payroll service, while making a positive contribution to the Council and the wider community.

What you will be doing

You will provide practical, timely and solution-focused HR advice to managers and employees in a defined service area of the council, including support with case management, recruitment and selection, change management, absence management, discipline, grievance and job evaluation.

You will also contribute to reviewing and updating policies, providing general policy advice, supporting the delivery of training and helping to continuously improve the service we provide. The role will include line management responsibility for one of our HR Administrators.

Why join us?

This is an exciting opportunity to develop your HR career in a council with real ambition for its people, its services and its communities. You will be joining a team that plays an important role in enabling employees to be equipped with the skills, support and experience they need to be the best they can be.

If you are ready for your next challenge and want to work somewhere where you can make a real difference, we would love to hear from you.

About You

You will ideally be qualified to Level 5 CIPD, or be able to demonstrate recent equivalent experience in a similar role. You will bring a good practical knowledge and understanding of core HR activities and current employment law, together with excellent interpersonal, listening and communication skills.

We are looking for someone who can build strong working relationships, deliver accurate and timely HR solutions, use their initiative and work collaboratively as part of a supportive team. You will be confident handling a varied workload, able to remain calm and professional in sensitive situations, and committed to delivering a positive, responsive HR service.
