About The Role

We are looking to recruit a Licensing Officer to join our Licensing Team. If you enjoy working in a busy and varied environment and have an ability to use your own initiative, we would like to hear from you.

The Licensing Team covers all licensing functions across the service including, alcohol and entertainment, gambling, scrap metal, taxis, skin piercing, tattooing, animal welfare and caravan sites. 

The post is offered on a permanent basis, covering 20 hours a week over Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, have the ability to communicate with a wide range of customers, have experience within a Licensing Team of a local authority or similar and a solid knowledge of licensing legislation.

They will also thrive in a busy environment and enjoy a challenge.

The team work on occasion, outside normal office hours and you would be expected to partake as required.

About You

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate that they have the following skills, knowledge, and work experience:

  • To have excellent communication skills both verbal and written to be able to communicate with a wide audience of customers and partners. 
  • Excellent knowledge of licensing legislation and procedures with demonstrable record of providing advice and support to applicants.
  • To have experience of effectively using IT systems such as word, excel, outlook and a working knowledge of maintaining databases to record information precisely.
  • Ability to manage own time and workload.
  • Demonstrable experience within a Licensing Team of a local authority (or similar relevant work experience). 
  • The ability to work under pressure to meet target deadlines
