About The Role

We are seeking a Housing Adaptations Team Manager.  Working in the Council’s independent living service, you will manage the housing adaptations team.  You will undertake day to day management of adaptation processes, including assessments, design, installation, and review, whilst working closely with other local authorities, health professionals, contractors, and individuals.

You will be responsible for ensuring:

  • Ensure efficient assessment of applications in line with policy and legislation
  • Ensure aids and adaptations are provided efficiently and cost-effectively, maximising the funding available

About You

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate that they have the following skills, knowledge and work experience:

  • Professionally qualified in housing or a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Excellent communication, influencing, organising, persuading and negotiating skills
  • Good listening skills and able to respond to diverse needs
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Ability to convey complex messages and provide clear advice on issues
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of building techniques and contract law
  • Broad understanding of planning and building regulations
  • Relevant experience in building renovation and refurbishment
  • Experience in managing and delivering services.

You will have a passion for improving the lives of vulnerable or disabled people.  You will be empathic and sensitive to the needs of individuals requiring adaptations and have a solution-focused and pragmatic approach.
