About The Role

We are seeking a Senior Homeless Options Advisor to join our Housing Options Service, specialising in complex cases within the Private Rented Sector. This is a challenging and rewarding role where you will act as a senior caseworker, managing a varied caseload of complex and multifaceted homelessness prevention cases. You will play a key role in preventing homelessness , including taking action to prevent and respond to illegal evictions, and negotiating effectively with landlords to sustain tenancies. Working within the context of the new Renters Reform and evolving legislation, you will use your knowledge of the Housing Act 1996 as amended by Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 to provide expert advice and deliver legally robust decisions. You will work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to deliver tailored, person-centred solutions, support tenancy sustainment, and ensure statutory duties are met while contributing to the wider homelessness strategy.

The post if offered on a Fixed Term Contract / Secondment until March 2028. If applying for the position as a secondment, you must obtain your line manager’s approval before applying for the position.

This role requires a satisfactory basic disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

About You

The ideal candidate will bring strong experience of working in a housing or homelessness setting, with a solid understanding of relevant legislation, including the Housing Act 1996, and emerging changes under the Renters' Rights Act 2025. You will have experience managing complex cases and be confident in taking action to prevent and respond to illegal evictions, using your knowledge to protect tenants’ rights and achieve positive outcomes. You will be an excellent communicator and negotiator, able to build effective relationships with clients, landlords, and partner agencies, even in challenging situations. With a compassionate and customer-focused approach, you will have experience supporting individuals with multiple and complex needs, alongside strong organisational and IT skills to maintain accurate case records and meet performance targets. You will be resilient, adaptable, and motivated, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and a commitment to delivering high-quality services that make a real difference to people’s lives.
