Accountancy Officer

We have an exciting opportunity for an accountancy officer to join our finance team.

Reporting to a senior accountant the successful candidate will be required to support the delivery of comprehensive accountancy and financial services to the Council and its subsidiaries. This includes the provision of advice and support to all services, and technical areas including VAT.

The role will support the accountancy team by assisting in the preparation and monitoring of budgets, both capital and revenue. They will support the production of the annual budget and statement of accounts for the Council and its subsidiaries.

Beyond this it requires someone dedicated to the continuous improvement in the functionality of the financial service and the monitoring and reporting it provides. The role requires the candidate to produce timely and quality data analysis to support decision making and monitoring, including supporting services with business cases and completion of grant claims.

They will also perform reconciliations and monthly tasks required to ensure overall financial control and accountability.

This role provides an opportunity to provide a service to assist in supporting the Council and its subsidiaries in making a difference in the community it serves by improving financial information and analysis to better support financial decisions made on projects based on business cases and when setting and monitoring budgets.
